This Fabulous and rare genuine Van Cleef and Arpels real gemstone jeweled clutch is a rare find. This is possibly from the roaring 1920s, of elaborate opulence, shown with a matching emerald necklace i sometimes wear with the bag. Please do not be confused by knock offs that do not bear the Van Cleef and Arpels logo. This is similar to the one that was gifted to the MET in 1986 by the Estate of H. H Duke of Windsor and the Duchess of Windsor in 1986. If it does not have the original logo, it it is not Van cleef and Arpels. It is in excellent vintage condition. You will not find another piece quite like this anytime soon. A limited number were made, i have this cream and another black one. This is museum quality piece. The idea of investing in high quality distinctive jewellery is not new. If you do your research on Van cleef and arpels you will also find that Van Cleef & Arpels exhibits museum pieces and sometimes resells original vintage signature prized items owned by collectors. VAN CLEEF & ARPELS – a 1920¨s multi-gem evening clutch bag, collet-set with cabochon rubies, emeralds and garnets to the gold and silver metallic thread embroidered fan design and further embroidered lattice detail, the press stud fastener opening to reveal a cream satin interior with three compartments, lipstick and compact pockets and a satin cushion. Stamped Van Cleef and Arpels and serial number 16630. It is an old world style cream beige with elaborate custom gold metallic applique that has minimal snags and tarnish and genuinue mounted gemstones. Overall good condition for the age of the piece, with wear to the fabric along the bottom edges and some dulling to the gold and silver thread pattern, some’dirt’ marks to the interior lining and base on folded and protruding areas and some pink possibly lipstick marks around the lipstick pocket. There are chips to some of the stones. The press stud fastener is in working order. The pouch shows some marks and minor discolouration. Note this is a collector piece of history. Inside of bag has cream beige like color satin silk lining with snap closure, accordion foldout pocket with flat pocket in front, lipstick and compact pocket, main compartment, and long flat pocket at back with original satin-backed 3.25×6.5 mirror!
