Vintage butterscotch amber bakelite necklace graduated beads 28.5 exceptional
Vintage butterscotch amber bakelite graduated necklace of exceptional quality. Found it at a flea market held in Covent Garden. I was told it dated from the 1920s or 30s, which makes it an Art Deco-era piece. I’ve owned this necklace for more than 40 years but seldom wore it. It’s been kept in a jewelry bag in a drawer, away from sunlight and dust. The beads are all in excellent condition, and the fastener bead, with a screw-in post and threaded receptacle, is in perfect shape (see close-up photos). Both the screw post and the threaded receptacle are sturdy metal, not plastic. I’ve had the necklace professionally re-strung and knotted by a jeweler. Comes from a non-smoking home.
